Many people ask me what drives me to keep working so hard every day.很多人问我，是什么驱动着我每天如此拼命地工作。

My motivation has never been about making money or building a personal empire.我的动力从来都不是为了赚钱，或是建立什么个人帝国。

It is about ensuring the long-term survival and prosperity of human consciousness.而是为了确保人类意识能够长期生存与繁衍。

We must become a multi-planetary species and a spacefaring civilization.我们必须成为一个跨星球的物种，成为能够漫游太空的文明。

Life cannot just be about solving one mundane problem after another.生活不能仅仅是每天去解决一个又一个枯燥乏味的问题。

There have to be reasons to get up in the morning and be excited about the future.必须要有某些理由，能让你清晨醒来时对未来充满期待与兴奋。

When you look at space, Mars, and the stars, you feel that excitement.当你抬头仰望太空、火星和浩瀚星辰时，你就会感受到那种激动。

To achieve this, we have to keep pushing the boundaries of technology every single day.为了实现这一点，我们每天都必须全力以赴地去突破技术的边界。

Failure is always an option here at SpaceX and Tesla.在 SpaceX 和特斯拉，失败从来都是被允许的一个选项。

If things are not failing, you are simply not innovating enough.如果你从不经历失败，那只能说明你的创新力度还远远不够。

When we started SpaceX, people told me I was out of my mind and would lose everything.当我们刚创立 SpaceX 时，人们都说我疯了，说我会输光所有积蓄。

And they were almost right, because our first three rocket launches all failed.他们差一点就说对了，因为我们前三次火箭发射全都以失败告终。

My advice to anyone who wants to build something meaningful is very simple.对于每一个想要创造有意义事物的人，我的建议非常简单。

Work twice as hard as everyone else, and do not be afraid to take big risks.付出一倍于常人的努力，并且永远不要害怕去冒巨大的风险。

Focus on creating real value rather than chasing superficial status or hype.专注于创造真正的价值，而不是去追逐浮夸的名声或炒作。

Make things that people genuinely love and that make their lives better.去打造那些人们发自内心喜爱、且能让生活变得更美好的产品。

The future is not predefined, it is created by the actions we take today.未来并非命中注定，它取决于我们今天所采取的每一个行动。
